Feel Comfortable Even During Dental Disasters

Dental crises are already stressful without adding treatment anxiety. We offer gentle inhaled sedation with laughing gas to help you relax during your emergency care, if needed. This safe option works within minutes to create a sense of calm. The effects wear off shortly after treatment, allowing you to drive yourself home once your emergency is resolved.

Your physical comfort is always a priority, especially during urgent visits. Our treatment rooms feature comforts that transform emergency care into a pleasant experience.

You can cozy up with soft pillows and warm blankets while headphones let you enjoy calming music and protective glasses shield your eyes from overhead lights. These simple touches help reduce stress during what would otherwise be a tense situation.

Your dentist will assess your condition using technology like digital X-rays, so we can provide the appropriate treatment. Depending on the nature of your emergency, this may include a tooth filling, dental crown, or other restorative treatment.

Know What to Do Before Reaching Our Office

It's important to take the proper steps before your emergency appointment.

For toothaches, rinse with warm salt water and take over-the-counter pain relievers. If you've broken a tooth, save any fragments and rinse your mouth with warm water.

For a knocked-out tooth, hold it by the crown (not the root) and gently rinse without scrubbing. Try placing it back in the socket or store it in milk or saliva. If a filling or crown comes loose, keep the restoration and apply dental cement from a drugstore as temporary protection.

Soft tissue injuries like cuts to your gums, tongue, or cheeks should be gently cleaned with warm water. Apply gentle pressure with gauze or a tea bag to control bleeding. Cold compresses on the outside of your mouth can reduce swelling and pain for most emergencies.

They make you feel safe and you are well looked after during your visit. I would recommend them to everyone. Just through with my deep cleaning and going back for a filling and crown. Dr. Nair made a plan for me because I need a lot more additional work. Thanks to the plan and the fact that they will work with you and your insurance on payments I will be getting my work completed within the next 2 years. Yes, I need that much work! lol

I’ve been coming here for years! I had a lapse in dentist attendance for a few years prior to joining Serenity Dental and the Doctors helped me calm and informed. All their hygienists and administrative staff are so nice and helpful on every visit and I actually look forward to cleanings now. The location can be a little out of the way if you don’t live closer to West Austin but it’s worth it for consistent and compassionate care.

I can't recommend Dr. Nair and Dr. Rao and -- and their team highly enough. Serenity Dental is quiet, calm, and surrounded by trees, creating a truly soothing atmosphere. Dr. Nair is not only a highly skilled professional, but also incredibly kind and attentive. She always takes a moment to check in personally and even remembers details about my family, which makes every visit feel warm and personalized. When I needed a second opinion on a procedure, her insight was both helpful and reassuring—never pushy, always thoughtful. Anastasia at reception deserves a special shout-out. She has been so patient and accommodating in helping me navigate my dental plan. She took the time to explain the ins and outs of my insurance in a way I could actually understand, and she handled all the logistics seamlessly. I even referred my husband, who also had a great experience—and came back with noticeably whiter teeth! Serenity Dental puts genuine care and attention into every patient interaction.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Emergencies

What qualifies as a dental emergency?
Dental emergencies include severe toothaches, knocked-out teeth, loose or broken teeth, lost or broken fillings or crowns, facial swelling, and soft tissue injuries causing significant bleeding. Anything causing severe pain, potential tooth loss, or infection risk should be treated promptly to prevent complications.
How quickly can I be seen for a dental emergency?
We reserve space in our daily schedule specifically for emergencies and typically offer same-day appointments for patients in pain. Call us early in the day when possible and we'll get you into the office as soon as we can.
Will my dental emergency be expensive to treat?
Costs vary depending on the specific emergency and necessary treatment. Many dental insurance plans provide better coverage for emergency care than elective procedures. We offer several payment options, including financing plans for unexpected dental expenses. Our focus is getting you out of pain first.
